Los Angeles-based Peter Lunenfeld writes and produces projects at the intersection of media philosophy, art criticism, digital humanities, and urban studies. He is a professor in the Design Media Arts department at UCLA, where he teaches classes on ecology and futurism. He is the founder and director of the Institute for Technology & Aesthetics (ITA) and the author and editor of over a dozen books, including The Secret War Between Downloading and Uploading (MIT Press) and City at the Edge of Forever: Los Angeles Reimagined (Viking). His forthcoming projects revolve around AI, nature, and what he terms the “neo-synthetic.”
