Generating electricity with the use of the sun is not something we find surprising in this day and age. You see solar panels everywhere and especially the roofs of houses are full of them. But soon you will also see solar panels on the highway. You would think that it will not happen right away, but now, in 2024, it has already become a reality. You can already see it in the Next Nature Museum with the arrival of the Stella Vita.

THE STELLA VITA

Since 2013, students of the TU/e have been busy with the development of vehicles that are powered by solar energy. Under the name Solar Team Eindhoven they already thought of and realized a wide range of them, with one being the Stella Vita: the self-sufficient house on wheels.

Since the Stella Vita is a camper, there is energy needed for more than only driving. The solar panels on the roof do not only generate enough electricity to drive but also to live. In the camper you can shower, charge a laptop, watch TV, use the toilet, and cook without any problems.

FROM EINDHOVEN TO SPAIN

The Stella Vita is not only in theory a success, but also in practice. In 2021, after working on it for 1,5 years, the Stella Vita was put to the test. It completed a successful road trip from the Netherlands to the city of Tarifa in Spain - a journey of 3000 kilometers!

But Tarifa is not the final stop for the Stella Vita. You can now admire this unique house on wheels at the Next Nature Museum. Upon entering, you can see the Stella Vita right in the main hall. Unfortunately, it is not possible to take it for a spin, but who knows… maybe we will all have our own Stella Vita in the near future.
