DIGITAL WELLNESS CENTER

Landscape image with a white background. In the middle sits the Buddha holding and using a smartphone. The smartphone emits a blue and green glow that shines on the Buddha's face. Surrounding the Buddha are an overflow of emoji, such as a star, bubbles, a dog paw, water drops, a hamster, and lucky clovers. The image emphasizes the contrast between inner balance and rest versus the overstimulation of technology.

Reclaim your digital wellness

How do you deal with digital stress? The Digital Wellness Center helps us understand that technology is not the enemy, but can be a tool for mental peace and personal growth. On average, people check their phones 150 times a day and send around 110 messages a day. Almost half of smartphone users even say they can’t live without their device.

Rather than completely disconnecting, the Digital Wellness Center challenges visitors to explore how technology can actually contribute to their well-being. The exhibition offers a combination of interactive installations and soothing environments to understand and deal with digital overload.

Treatments

The exhibition consists of ten fascinating installations and treatments that can be found in a Fractal Forest: a digital environment filled with special patterns that repeat themselves endlessly.

These patterns, called fractals, are also found in trees, leaves, cauliflowers, clouds, and snowflakes. They have a calming effect on your brain, similar to the sense of peace you feel when walking through a forest.

While social media often traps us in repetitive patterns, this digital forest uses repetition to help you relax. The fractals create a soothing atmosphere that promotes growth and enhances your well-being.

The fractals in the forest were developed by mathematician and Next Nature fellow Jules Ruis. Jules brought fractals from 2D to 3D with his ‘Fractal Trigeometry’. These designs are based on the infinite repetition of shapes.

Breathing Session

Experience a ‘Breathing Session' by artist Geoffrey Lillemon, an artistic meditation session where body and environment merge through sound, visuals, space, and light.

This digital inspiration session promotes relaxation of the mind, reduces stress, and encourages self-development, focus, and new ideas.

"Ultimately, it’s about how you choose to integrate digital technology into your life. Recognizing and actively managing your complex relationship with technology is essential.

It’s no longer just about mastering a tool or platform but understanding the broader impact on your mental space and perception of time."

Dancing in the Frame

Do you limit your movements? More and more young people today move within the small frame of their phones. This is especially visible on TikTok: even while dancing, they unconsciously stay within an imaginary box to create the perfect video that fits the screen. It’s not just about what happens within that rectangular space—it also shapes how we think and move.

‘Dancing in the Frame’ lets visitors experience this limitation firsthand. You’re invited to dance inside a life-sized phone. Sensors inside the frame react when you touch the edges, triggering beeps to warn you that you’re stepping out of the screen. This way, you directly feel how your movements are confined by the digital frame we often unknowingly trap ourselves in—even when we think we’re free.
