Eindhoven Celebrates 60 Years of Evoluon

Eindhoven’s iconic Evoluon is turning 60! The futuristic building first opened its doors in 1966 as a bold symbol of progress, technology, and future thinking. To celebrate this milestone anniversary, Next Nature is hosting a festive program this September for Eindhoven and the surrounding region, featuring a 1-euro admission day, a major auction of unique Evoluon memorabilia, and more.

On Saturday, September 19, the Evoluon will open its doors for just 1 euro, just like back in the day! Join us on this special day to explore the museum and the iconic dome, enjoy special presentations, meet Neo the robot dog, and grab a future-flavored ice cream from the Bistro In Vitro ice cream cart.

On Friday, September 25, a grand auction featuring unique Evoluon artifacts will take place under the museum’s stunning Dome. The auction will be hosted by Eindhoven native and presenter Mike Weerts.

Everyone is welcome to bid on unique pieces of the building’s history. Highlights include paintings, original sketches of the Evoluon by architect Louis Kalff, classic tableware, and vintage furniture spanning six decades.

The evening will also feature live 1960s music by local Eindhoven band MOOON. The museum will remain open throughout the event, alongside exclusive backstage tours. This evening is part of Friday Next and is organized in collaboration with Effenaar, Brabant C, and ASML.

In honor of this anniversary, we are launching a brand-new exhibition dedicated to the history of the Evoluon. Featuring a rich collection of archival materials, this installation takes you on a journey through the past 60 years.

Sixty years ago, the Evoluon touched down in Eindhoven like a spaceship. Over the decades, it grew into an architectural icon and a place where generations of visitors came to explore science, technology, and what lies ahead. Now, at the heart of the Brainport region, the Evoluon is once again moving toward the future, as a museum, a gathering space, and the home base of Next Nature.
