What new species inhabit our planet today?

What if technology and its consequences become so commonplace that we no longer know what is “natural”? In an era when the artificial and organic worlds are merging, A Bestiary of the Anthropocene looks at the hybrid entities that increasingly surround us.

Inspired by medieval bestiaries and observations of our damaged planet, the book helps us navigate a world in which nature and technology are inextricably intertwined. These new species mark a shifting, post-natural era.

The project is an illustrated collection of today’s hybrid entities, designed as a field guide. It helps us to observe, navigate, and orient ourselves in an ever more artificial world.

Plastiglomerates, robot dogs, fordite, artificial grass, antenna trees, SARS-CoV-2, decapitated mountains, drone-fighting eagles, standardised bananas – each of these specimens reflects the rapidly changing era we live in. Often without us realising it, they spread and exist alongside us.

The project captures a moment when the biosphere and technosphere are merging into one new hybrid body.
