Morphing pasta

Saving packaging space and reducing carbon emissions, flatpack pasta might be the next sustainable way to buy pasta. Created by the morphing matter lab at Carnegie Mellon University, this flat pasta turns into 3D shapes when used to cook. Through tiny grooves on the surface of the flat pasta, it can turn into various shapes ranging from tubes, twirls, spirals and waves when cooked. The main idea was to reduce the amount of plastic used in the packaging and carbon emitted in transportation processes, by saving space and storage.
