Stockholm’s walls were decorated with irreverent graffiti showing the dark side of Disney's most popular characters. The author is a mysterious street artist who calls himself Herr Nilsson.



Interviewed by The Local, the Swedish creative explained how most cartoon characters, women in particular, are very stereotyped and predictable. Princesses are always innocent, fair, sweet and harmless. Nilsson's goal is to rebel against this clichéd vision of the world.


In Nilsson's art, smiling Snow White has her finger on the trigger of a revolver; Cinderella holds a knife, ready to attack whoever turns the corner; and a wide-awake Sleeping Beauty prepares to gun down pedestrians.

Everybody expects a fairy tale princess to always look good and behave well. Are we ready to let go of this perfect picture we've created?
