Oil paint, photography, video, the internet, and 3D printing each transformed the arts. Today, a new artistic medium is emerging: artificial intelligence. Not the brush or the camera, but the prompt—the instruction through which an artist directs an AI—is becoming a new creative instrument. During a unique international gathering at the Next Nature Museum, leading artists, designers, and thinkers will explore how AI is fundamentally reshaping the world of art.

The highlight of the evening is the launch of PROMPT: Art & Design in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, edited by Peter Lunenfeld and Mieke Gerritzen. The book brings together dozens of internationally renowned artists, designers, and researchers who share not only their ideas about AI, but also something that usually remains hidden: the prompts behind their artworks.

For the first time, a publication presents the prompt not as a technical instruction, but as a new artistic language. Where artists once revealed their sketchbooks, they now reveal the language through which they invite machines to imagine.

During the event, leading AI artists will discuss the cultural, artistic, and societal impact of generative AI. How is prompting transforming the creative process? Has the prompt become the new sketchbook? What does originality mean when humans and algorithms create together? And what is the role of the artist in a world where anyone can generate images?

The question is no longer whether artists use AI, but how they choose to engage with it

The evening is intended for artists, designers, students, researchers, creative professionals, and anyone interested in understanding how artificial intelligence is shaping the future of art, design, and visual culture.

Lev Manovich (US/KOR)

Artist, writer

Lev Manovich is a Presidential Professor at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, and founder of the Cultural Analytics Lab. A pioneering theorist of digital culture, he helped establish the fields of new media studies, software studies, cultural analytics, and AI aesthetics. He has published 17 books, including the influential The Language of New Media.

Noëlle van Dijk (gemaild)

Artist

Noëlle van Dijk is a Dutch multidisciplinary artist and art director. Her work spans large-scale installations, video projections, and self-initiated projects, collaborating with international clients like Google, Amsterdam Dance Event and Rosewood Hotels.

Silvio Lorusso (IT) (gemaild)

Designer, writer

Silvio Lorusso is an Italian writer, artist and designer based in Lisbon. His work critically examines design culture, digital platforms, labour and artificial intelligence through writing, publishing and artistic practice. He is the author of Entreprecariat and What Design Can’t Do, and teaches at Lusófona University and Design Academy Eindhoven.

Sander Veenhof

Artist

Sander Veenhof is an artist, creative technologist, and researcher exploring AI agents at the Dutch public broadcaster VPRO. A pioneer in augmented reality, he investigates how intelligent systems can enrich reality, creating new forms of interaction, storytelling, and public engagement.

Constant Dullaart (gemaild)

Constant Dullaart is a visual artist whose work explores the influence of the internet, social media, and digital platforms on society. His practice exposes the hidden power structures behind online visibility, data, and algorithms, and has been exhibited internationally.

Peter Lunenfeld is a writer, theorist and professor at UCLA. His work can be found at the intersection of media philosophy, design theory, art criticism, urban history and digital humanities. Mieke Gerritzen is a Dutch designer, writer, curator and Creative Director of Next Nature Museum in Eindhoven. Previously, she served as Director of MOTI, Museum of the Image), where she established an international platform for image culture. Her work has explored the cultural impact of digital technology through graphic design, exhibitions, publications and public debate.
